Hi I was wondering if anybody knows the brand of this 16" bull barrel? The bottom one is a questar M4 style. Cheers

Model 1 sales is complete junk....

I have a M1S 10.25" upper that I bought with a Bushy lower... I bought both before doing any research about AR's.

Surprisingly I've never had a function problem. After several thousand rounds I did discovered that the barrel was loose though in the upper. The barrel nut hadn't been tightened at all, just put on to align with the gas tube. That explained why accuracy wasn't quite what I wanted.:D I helped my gun smith torque it down to spec and it is fine now, and much more accurate.;)

The bolt is MP tested (or so it's stamped) and it's staked OK. The upper is 7075 forged, with M4 feed ramp cuts. The carrier looks well built.

I also had to stake the castle nut. But other than that, it looks decently made, and it functions perfectly. As long as you go through the potential problem areas I think the component parts are relatively solid.

what with the poppy?
The end of the Q tip got stuck in the bolt and the only reamer I could find was a poppy pin so I thew it in for scale. Thanks for noticing! I looked at a similar barrel up on the M1S site and saw that it was made by ER Shaw so like posted it probably is a decent barrel

M1S stuff is made in Taiwan and china, the ER shaw bbl,s are the rejects,ER shaw makes bbl,s for many many other people, they have why they call in house a "no scrap policy"
Just ask around you will find out.
But hey from what ive been told taiwan is not listed as a 3rd world country and more.....

I had always understood (rightly or wrongly) that model 1 sales was where old tooling, end of run parts, or other manufacturers rejects went. I have never heard that their parts are made in China/Taiwan but it's a possibility as well.
It doesn't mean what you're getting is necessarily garbage....but it's not KAC ;)

I have an M1S M4 barrel and it shoots great, has a 5.56 chamber, and is chrome lined. I can find no detectable faults with it.
They are considered low end. But depending on what you're doing with it or what you need it for will dictate whether it's acceptable.
