Heavy barrel with iron sights?

I don't.
D&T for scope bases is so much cheaper than building iron sights and fitting the barrel for the sights. 99.999% of the HB owners would pull the sights off to make room for the scope anyway.
On the plus side, there are plenty of aftermarket sights available, they're just gonna cost.

Depends how "heavy" you want it. Full bull barrels... I havent seen one. BSA Martini's and Brno's have very heavy barrels and aperture target sights
Marlin .22's come with a semi heavy barrel and irons. not a bull barrel, but they are really beefy!
Here's my 60ss, the 795 has the same barrel but detachable mag instead of tube fed. so does the 925, 981, 983 etc... very nice barrels.
Here's a Martini, but they cost A LOT more than a marlin and are only single shot.

If you are looking for a match rifle with iron sights, Anshutz make some really nice ones. Entry level for a new 1903 starts at about $1300 and a full blown 1913 will set you back about $3500, plus sights of course.
Sporting/hunting rifle. I was always told a heavy barrel is the way to go, however any gun without fixed sights is only as good as its scope. In a back country situation if I damage the scope well then I am SOL.
I have been looking at the Marlin XT22s. handled one at cabelas and was not impressed, but they have great reviews. Savage seems to be a step up, but I think I may just wait to buy a CZ.
Back to the Thompson Center, here's how she shoots, with a so-so shooter. shot at 50 yards, using eley sport, off bipod, no rear rest. Not bad for a semi. The rear site is off to accomodate the bell of the scope. The rear site is metal, very robust and very adjustable, more so than on any other 22 under $600.
I guess some of us jumped to conclusions, I suggested a rifle/s with very fine target sights, with fine adjustments, most of the sights pictured are more utilitarian for field use. In the case of these sights, a scope may be more accurate, a good set of target sights, used properly should be just as accurate as a scope on a .22. IMHO
Black Slide, if you are looking at accuracy in a sporting hunting rifle and want it for a lot of carry and back country, look no further than a cz with a 16" barrel. The iron sights on them are very robust, the front site is hooded which protects the blade, the barrel is thinner so the rifle is lighter but its by no means weak. The 16 inch barreled cz is every bit as accurate as the longer barreled cz's and is more accurate than the HB cz's (some of them anyhow, due to not being free floated...another topic altogether) CZ scout is my favorite field 22 by a country mile. Its light, compact (youth size) and very very accurate for the money. There are many great 22's, but if I could have only one 22 for the rest of my life and have no access to repairs or parts I would pick the cz scout hands down. Take a close look at it or its bigger brother, cz 452 american, with 16 inch barrel.
