Hey guys,

I have a glock 17 gen 4 , wich i use for CQB event and i am also planning on doing some IPSC next year. I have issue on some occasions when my mag does not come out even if i am pressing the magazine release and wiggleing the gun to try to get the mag out wich result in a lost of time that pisses me off quite a bit and make me loose precious points. I tryed sanding the interior of the gun where the mag is seated to try to take off some contact between the two. That worked better but still , think that a really heavy mag base plate would help me.

I have already tryed Heavy extended aluminum mag base plate that i bought at CRAFM here in MTL ( brand unknown ). Bought that quick without reaserch and i have to say that the difference in weight is pretty high from the oem ( 3.5gr to 39.5 )
but does not really help me in solving my issue.

Was wondering if someone was aware of a more heavyweight mag base plate that looks good and is available here in Canada. If so , on wich website. The price is not important for me as i am really looking foreward to solve my issue.

Thank a lot guys

Jules

I have the same issue with my g34 and my g17. Both gen4, with oem and magpul. Pissed me off so much that I gave up and switch to another pistol. I'd use a file and remove some material where it catches.

I dont think that it is the catch mecanism that is somehow defective , i really think that the surface of the mag enter in contact with the inside of the mag insert or well.

sometimes it drop freely , sometimes its not ...

Maybe try your mags in another Glock, or vice versa. Then you will know if your mags or your gun are off in some way.

already tried, works good.

I have done strippling on the grip , ( nicely done , it is not pierced of dammaged in any way ) i am thinking that maybe the global shape on the inside would have been changed ?

Is there a magwell on your glock? The polymer injection molding on the factory glock mags are not always perfect/consistent in shape. This is 10x more apparent on the .40 mags. It's also worth giving the magpul pmags a shot.

yes a zev magwell , do you think that by tighting it to the frame it could alter the shape of it .. ? i will try to remove it.

It's definitely worth removing the magwell to see if that helps. If there's stippling on the frame where the magwell meets the frame, it can sometime squeeze the sides of the frame and prevent the mags from dropping free. If that's the case you might want to lightly sand that area down to reduce the pressure in that area.

Here is an update,

I removed the Zevtech magwell , wich positively deformed slightly the entering area , but i can still feel some friction between the mags and the intern. Seems to varie from the hand pressure and the position of the gun when i it the mag release.

Seriously thinking of sending it to a professional to difinitly fix that issue.

Since the mag is a 17 rounder, but you only use 10, there is a lot of empty space in the bottom of the mag. Can you put a lump of lead in there?

I have a similar problem with an FNS. I have 4 mags and one of them won't eject. My mags are numbered. I Iknow to use #3 last, when reloading is not required.

Is your problem with all mags or just one of them?
