I have an opportunity to purchase some 60 grain 22 ammo that I would be using in my Browning 1911/22 pistol. I've never shot 60 grain before and generally I use CCI Mini mag 40 grain which seems to function well. So what technically should shoot better 30 grain or 60 grain and I know that's a subjective question because every gun is different but I'm just trying to get a generalization. My friend has some 30 grain and 60 grain so I'm trying to decide which way to go or maybe get a few of each to see how it shoots.

22 pistols tend to have strong likes and dislikes, so buy a box, not a brick, and find out.

If I was betting, the 60 may not shoot accurately, due to a stabilization issue. It will certainly cycle ok.

My target type pistols do best with CCI Standard Vel.

My little browning shoots the CCI standard load best but will shoot most brands at 40grs. I haven't tried 60 so perhaps a trial box is in order as opposed to a brick as suggested.

Are the 60 grainers the Aguila SSS? They are basically a 50% bigger bullet loaded into a 22 short case so the velocity will be pretty low. That combined with the heavier bullet will not be optimal to stabilize but if you hit somethiong with it then it should go down quick. Also great if you happen to have a suppressor kicking around somewhere that you can use.;)

I never noticed as I opted to go with the 30gr. Will try them tomorrow perhaps.
