Just got back into the Gun thing again.
My son just turned 17 and really was pestering to get out and shot the guns.
I challanged him to do the right thing and take the coarse for non restricted and i'd do my part.
He blew me away got his non-rest-took the restricted and did the hunting coarse as well.
Now I got to do my part.
All the ranges in North Van have all but been shut down such a shame I used to shoot and work at the Skeet and Trap range growing up.
I have a lot of 303 military issue a PH 3006 and few 22's a shotgun or 2 and a couple of hand guns
Been out of the scene for a while now and will be looking to join a gun club in the lower mainland---ANY SUGGESTION'S??
I want to make this an enjoyable experiance for my son and start him off right
I think it's in his blood from a long generation of shooters his Great Grandfather won many times at Bisley and I used to do well at the local PSA tourneys my eyes are all little dim now but can still hit a pie plate.
Looking forward to getting some good advise and have really enjoyed what I've read on the site so far.
Going na go and dust off the antiques now
Good work fellas

Hi there, greetings from Lonsdale. The Pacific Shooters is open again for rimfire and pistol. The Poco range is closer, and fair game for eveything else you want to lug around and shoot. It's well set up and quite quiet on the weekdays(closed tues&wed)$140/yr or $15 a day.

Langley is pistol and 22 indoors only. They use to have trap there but I think it is gone now. If you are willing for a bit more of a drive there is also Abby fish & game. You cam google them to find out more if you wish.

Welcome from another north van'er!Poco is a good bet but a little crowded with the wrong crowd these days.I know they have a good range in Squamish so perhaps someone up there could chime in.You're going for a drive anyways so you might as well make it a nice one. :)
I used to live in the Cove and loved it.Now I'm trying to find a house out that way.

Hey bud, I grew up in the cove :) mom is still there.

Give me a pm and we'll talk about where you can go to shoot in the woods too. That's always fun :) but poco is probably your closest. Langley's nice - but if you're going that far out i'd go farther and try abby. Bit bigger range.

I'm just across the pond from you in Vancouver.

Poco is closest, but crowded on the weekend with gang-bangers on weekends and even during weekday afternoons sometimes. The range officer can be impolite to say the least, but he's gotta deal with a lot of numbnut dough-heads for sure.

The Vancouver Gun Club in Richmond has very good shotgun facilities. Nice sporting clays set up.

Welcome

Hi X-Hare,I lived in the Cove for 7 or 8 years, long enough to grow a set of gills!Welcome to the Board!! Mur:D

Chiming in...The Squamish range is great. BUT you need to be a resident of Squampton to have a membership. Pemberton has a nice range but is a bit of a drive from 'The Cove'.

I hear there is a great new indoor range of from 10am-10pm 7 days a week opening in PoCo. Iirc it is call DVC Ventures or something like that.

The other PoCo range is getting ugly, a bunch of us did not renew our cards. Goat rodeo springs to mind... JP does all he can (and it's more than anyone could ask) but the odds and numbers are stacked against him.

PSA is great for basic pistol shooting and .22cal rifle, plus it's 5 minutes from my house!! I live in N.Van as well. If you want to try it you can come as my guest and only $5 bucks.

Sounds like we will need a N. Van get together soon!!
