The crowd that plays too many video games, has NO gun handling skills and doesn't speak english.

arent you stereo typing ? and no mention of the jerks who do speak english, who also dont play video games. not that i seen any at poco.

I love the 1 member 5 guests all ####ing around the longgun racks. Some dumb as ho knocked my Tika Tactical over...That did it for me. I only shot on the lower ranges or private afterhours stuff after that. Oh and getting swept more than a kitchen floor!

Hey thanks everyone for all the excellent info.
It was Ridgedale that I had been told before to check out because it was a little less political than some of the others.
Again just 1 person's opinion and I will dare to compare!
I'am excited to hear that the P.S.A. range is back up running again and will take you up on that offer Colin.
A get together sounds great just trying to find the time I should be free'd up in a couple of weeks.
Cheers

I'm only speaking from experience. The last two times I've been there I had a guy who didn't speak english blast one off besides me AFTER THE RANGE WAS CLOSED and then laugh as they got booted out, sweep me with his shiny new .45 several times,a family who didn't speak english put thier 7 year old kid behind a 8mm mauser with a scope, droping guns with bolts closed in my general direction and sweep me again several times with thier handguns. Not to mention both touching the guns on a cease fire with people down range, unpacking thier guns with zero muzzle control and muzzles going everywhere, blasting away like retards at a 2 foot by 2 foot target less than 15 feet away, and having thier young kids(like 4-6) running around unsupervised like uncontrollable monkeys, while mommy and daddy and grandma and granddad and 2 brothers and 3 sisters and uncle all shoot on one target bay.
Stereotype?Yeah maybe. But SOMEBODY should tell them to stop acting like the steotype.

If fairness to the facility. PoCo is pretty kick ass due to the long rifle range and practice/ semi private lower stuff. If you join get holster certified (unless you are LE or blk badge) and use the lower ranges.

PSA is where I grew up shooting...I loved that place as I kid. There were iirc pretty strict about rapid fire drills and had a 5rd max.

Do they still do work parties (no not the fun kind) early sat and sun am.? My old man used to ensure all us kids were there to clean and help where we could.

No doubt! The last (and I mean LAST) time I was there was brutal. I had no idea people could be so unsafe without actively trying. One bozo emptied a mag after the ceasefire and seemed sullen and un-repentive after he got a talking to. As was stated above, the staff there does the best they can but can only do so much with the members they have to work with.

Oh yes, the day card rate there is now $20 as well. It changed the beginning of March...

Welcome to CGN x-Hare! Be careful though as there are few forums as addictive as this one.:D

Work parties are posted on their website. I had to miss the last one, better make the next one or I will get the evil eye....

x-HARE : if you decide to come to poco, best time would be in the weekdays, less busy. the range is opened 9am-5pm, thurs to monday.

Hey I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of your info.
The safety aspect has to remain paramont .
I want my son to learn the right stuff there's to much negitivity out there
now with regard to youths with guns.
I know that when i was growing up if I didn't have the mentors I did i'm sure it would have be a different story.
Thanks so very much.

I was up at Poco a couple of weeks ago and it was great -- a couple of semi-serious pistol shooters and two bolt-action doodz on the public range. Parsons was nice to me (being a newb) and everything was smooth and in ordnung.

That said, I've heard bad things about Poco and would rather go out to another range -- but Abbotsford is only 100yds and Mission has a single-shot rule in effect. I'll have to get out to Rigedale next week and post a follow-up.

What had you heard about Poco? I was a member there before moving to ontario and I thought it was pretty good.

Glad to hear you're back in the game. My dad's been in the "box a year" crowd forever, and I would like to change that.

I think the whole Poco slam is getting too far out of hand. Don't forget this is probably the premier choice, due to lack of competition, for lower mainland shooters and Vancouver is getting large. With large comes idiots. It's got nothing to do with the range. And if I was John, I'd probably be worse. The mid week shoot is always pleasant and quiet. I understand some people can't make it out mid week, but even on weekends the range is well managed and under control. (offering many venues ie trap and skeet plus a 200yrd range). PS you don't need to be/with a member to shoot. And yeah they jacked it to $20 for the day

John and the other guys do a great job.Its a convienient range to go to.Apparently sundays are the bad days.I was there today and it was fine although I did have a guy point a rifle at me.He was a new shooter and asked for a few tips.Keep it pointing downrange was the first!

My friends think I'm worse than John. I guess it's TV that makes them think it's porper to drop the slide with the arm pointed at the ceiling!!! I can see Johns face when a bullet rips through his roof!!!!

agreed emmab. any club that has grown as fast as poco is gonna have some growning pains. but the club survival depends on new members bcos there are large number of members that do not renew. MAYBE that is why you dont need to be with a member to shoot for a day at poco and that in itself could creates problems with newbies or experience shooters that havent shot in decades.

all range has idiots and poco has its share, the larger the club the larger number of idiots.
