Hello, my name is Dale. I am 25 years old and live in Bannon, New Brunswick with my mother and younger brother. I work at a grocery store near my house. it is 23 minutes from my front door or 6 minutes on my bicycle. I like my boss, Nina. She is nice. When i am at home I like to chat on the internet and write letters to pen pals. My best friend lives in Portugal. His name is Manuel and he also has fragile x syndrome like me. My mother says oneday I can go visit Manuel and his 2 dogs in Serpa. I save money from each time Nina pays me. I want to see Portugal next summer.

I would like to buy some guns after I take the police course at canadian tire. I hope we will be friends.

Welcome to CGN. I hope you have a good time here, and learn all you can about our pastime.

I'd like to give you some advice, however, for both here and for anywhere else on the internet. The people you find here are very friendly, but there are some times that you don't want people to have your phone number, especially when you don't know them. Until you've reached a certain level of trust or experience, I'd suggest not putting your phone number (or any other numbers - I notice you posted your brother's friend's number on another topic).

That would go the same for your house address, as well. General information, like how old you are, what town you live in, etc. is fine.

I'm not that familar with Fragile X, although I know a bit. Can you tell us all a bit more about it, and how it affects you?

I guess we could see that coming. I thought at first from the tone of his posts that he was a bit immature, or a troll, but it turned out he has a learning disability. I think that he still has a chance to learn some good things about firearms owners, and hope that he still follows his interests with safety and respect.

I'm not sure how banning works here - does it mean he's just not allowed to post, or that he can't read anything at all?

Personally, I think it may have just been a bit of a misunderstanding. He's a bit naïve, and just needed a bit of guidance. Rather he get it from us than from the antis that would just teach him to fear what he doesn't understand.

Dale, if you're still reading, keep learning what you can, so you can make informed decisions, and ask for help where you need it.

Thought that I would do a little leg work and find out what "fragile X syndrome" is (I'm sure many of us don't know what it is or what symptoms it presents with.)

" Fragile X is a family of genetic conditions, which can impact individuals and families in various ways. These genetic conditions are related in that they are all caused by gene changes in the same gene, called the FMR1 gene.

Fragile X includes:

fragile X syndrome (FXS), the most common cause of inherited mental impairment. This impairment can range from learning disabilities to more severe cognitive or intellectual disabilities. (Sometimes referred to as mental retardation.) FXS is the most common known cause of autism or "autistic-like" behaviors. Symptoms also can include characteristic physical and behavioral features and delays in speech and language development.

fragile X-associated tremor ataxia syndrome (FXTAS), a condition which affects balance, tremor and memory in some older male gene carriers.

fragile X-related premature ovarian failure (POF), a problem with ovarian function which can lead to infertility and early menopause in some female gene carriers.

Fragile X can be passed on in a family by individuals who have no apparent signs of this genetic condition. In some families a number of family members appear to be affected, whereas in other families a newly diagnosed individual may be the first family member to exhibit symptoms. "
