Hello all. Just joined the forum. I'm quite the noobie when it comes to guns and there is so much information here I thought I would join. My wife and I just passed our firearms course (non & restricted) now I can't wait for the PAL to show up in the mail :) We do a lot of camping and decided we need a gun for predators since I really wasn't looking forward to fighting a bear off with a knife. Also I learned that the local fish and game club has IPSC competitions I am very interested in getting involved with that but first I should buy a couple guns and practice lol I'll try and restrain myself since I have "issues" with regards to restraint when it comes to tinkering with things that can be modified lol

Welcome to both of you. I know the feeling of being in bear country while camping but I don't think the BC authorities look kindly on campers loaded for bear. They don't even want you to have bear spray. My choice has been a SXS coach gun in 12 or 20, a 303, or 45/70 lever in my travels through BC, Yukon, and Alaska.

For bear I was planning on picking up a 12ga pump (Remington 870) and using slugs not sure if I need a shell longer than 2 3/4" but I suppose a 3" shell couldn't be a bad thing.
I camp in remote area's usually so I can't see there being a problem with bringing a firearm along? Black bears don't worry me to much but my family is planning on a trip up North hopefully soon. I think it may take a couple of days to get use to tenting in grizzly country hehe.

I would like to add a 10/22 to my rapidity growing list of guns I NEED :)
I can see this is going to be an expensive hobby!
