Hey there. Im new to this site and new to Calgary.

Are there any training courses around here to become a better shooter? Handgun and rifle. Or is practice just the way to go.

Thanks.

J

GIT YOURSELF OVER TO THE SHOOTING EDGE AND TAKE PAL/RPAL COURSE unless you have one already, then come over and practise a LOT- you'll pick it up soon enough - BlacKFOOT AND HERITAGE, roughly, way over on the left side-

Justin,

First off, welcome to the fold! The next round of beers are on you... ;)

Now about courses to become a better shooter. I would suggest you look into several things...

1). The Holster course at The Shooting Edge, it's run by a fellow there named Carl, great course and it allows you to fire a loaded and charged handgun drawn from a holster. Bring a few hundred rounds too!

2). Join one of the local shooting leagues, ISPC (you have to do a Black Badge course first, I recommend a guy named Massimo Novarti), Defensive Pistol League (DPL is out of The Shooting Edge every Wenesday) or IDPA (IDPA is run by the Alberta Tactical Handgun League here in AB, no additional courses required). All three are really cool and all three are peopled with great folks.

Now these are not courses, but they do have the benefit of letting you shoot some challenging courses of fire and lets be honest, you don't get better unless you're pushing the envelope!
