Hey my names chad and im from calgary alberta and just got my license in the mail today. Looking at getting a shotgun to start and go from there. Want something good for an all purpose type. any ideas? Thanks
For plinking? A 22 is a must for any and everyone. After that decide what type(s) of others you want. 22's are great cheap fun , you can shoot all day for 20 bucks. Once you start chatting with other guys and maybe checking out their weapons you can get the pros and cons of each. There is no all round rifle that is perfect for everything and some you pay way too much for something that may look cool but can't do much. Good luck and be safe.
hey chad welcome from LA. I afree a .22 is a good start, but if you want a shotgun you can't go wrong with an 870. not perfect for anything, but good for everything. a good "do it all" i've shot trap, sporting clays, 5 stand, skeet, gophers, etc etc, with mine. your standard 870 express can be had new for 275-350 depending on where ya buy and there are always a bunch of them on the EE.
ya i have been reading alot about the 870 express and think i might get that if i can find one for a good price. They are $400 new at wholesale sports.
Don't worry about making the best decision. My first was the 870 express combo. Since then I've needed anything and everything that perked my interest, but the 870 is still one of my favorites.
It's very unlikely that your first gun will be your last, so get what you like the best today. Tomorrow your hobby will expand.
