im pretty new to all this but did however get the chance to take the RAF marksman course in england (couple of years if the raf) have been in canada now since 91
my only love up to now has been golf but my bud has taken me to the mission range with his 1911 sparten 45 and now im hooked and suspect will be spending a lot of hard earned... much to my wifes displeasure :)
I have taken my restricted and unrestricted and have been approved, my card has been issued and should be in my waiting hands by xmas.
I have been told that the buck mark camper was the way to go for my first gun and nearly pre-ordered one but have since fallen in love with the np 34. This site is fantastic and am learning a great deal and would welcome any feedback on my choice of toy.
Cheers,

Hello and welcome. Yes, this can get to be a pretty expensive hobby. The more pistols you can handle, the better off you'll be in making your choices (oh, yes, there will be more than one). Personally, I believe whatever fits your hand best and whatever lets you hit what you aim at is the pistol to use. That's the beauty and the bane of it.

Hi and welcome from another Chilliwack guy. The amount of information available here is incredible. Maybe see you at the Chilliwack range sometime.

PS Addictive hobby and addictive forum!

thanks peddler. my pal came yesterday so will be checking chilliwack range out in the next day or two to see how it compares to mission. still doing lots of research on what first gun to get, have you delt with chilliwack dart and tackle?

...my only love up to now has been golf...

 Someone here on CGN has a sig. line that reads, "A golf course is a sad misuse of a rifle range."

Pity you had to emigrate to be allowed to shoot a handgun, but it appears you're making up for lost opportunities. I can't believe I waited until two years ago to get my restricted; if I'd gotten off my arse in the '80s I could have all sorts of toys now deemed to dangerous for me to own. Still, I've acquired a Ruger Mk.II .22, a S&W 625 in .45 ACP/Auto Rim and a 1911 and love 'em.

Keep an eye on the Armco (CGN sponsor at top of the page) website. Gunnar is a fine fellow to deal with and will keep you poor if you let him.

Oh- and welcome to CGN.

:) Stuart

Welcome aboard, Yes, Gary and Brad and the guys at Chilliwack Dart and tackle are fantastic! Don't live there any more but still will shop with them when we are in Chwk
There are other ranges close to you
Abbotsford range, which a couple of forum members are execs at and is halfway to Abby on the #1
Ridgedale was a club I was at for a while and it was quite a good range. It is north of Abby towards mission bridge.
Check out what guest fees are if you plan on having people out with you, Chwk was up to $10 per person max 2 visits
Ridgedale was at $5 per person, no max visits.
just something to consider.
Check club schedules online too to see if they line up their free range time with your shooting times too. I found some were booked during the times I wanted to shoot..mainly midweek days

Good luck!! Have fun and be safe

Welcome to CGN. Glad to hear of another Chilliwack guy on here,,there are lots of us!!!! Look where we live,,,,,the best place to be an outdoor lover.
You must be prepared to spend lots of your money on guns cause once you get one you will not stop. Kind of like getting tattoos!!!
Chilliwack Dart and Tackle is a great place, the guys there are great to deal with and very helpful. Once they get to know you you will always be welcomed on a first name basis, with a handshake at the end of every deal. To me,nowadays, that means a lot!!
Long Live The Gun
