Hello and welcome. This forum is really just for greetings. You'll get better response from posting in the "General Firearms Discussion" or "Pistols and Revolvers" forums. But my two-cents worth goes to the Hi-Power. Enjoy the site.

K-W Area Ranges

:D
Welcome to the community, I also am from the KW area.
Have you looked at any ranges in the area yet?

Hi..

Actually going out to Bridgeport Gun Club on Sunday to check it out...believe they have skeet, trap and pistol ranges. Very reasonable rate to join as well.

Heard a lot of good things about Galt Gun Club but, haven't toured any of them yet.

I will post update after Sunday's visit.

Great to see all of the K-W members here!!

I know a few members of Bridgeport. Good guys. Galt isn't cheap, but does have a huge selection...

It's not cheap, but it's beautiful.

Bridgeport has a great group of people.

I'll be there myself this sunday. Be sure to introduce yourself! I'm a remington 1100 competition synthetic.

Will do...looking forward to the visit!

Hello and welcome!

I have been a member at Bridgeport for a few years now. You won't find a more relaxed club with a super reasonable membership fee in southern Ontario.

I have a hunch that its a front for guys to get away from their wives because I never have to wait to shoot but there are always people in the club house or playing horseshoes.

I might see you Sunday!

Cheers

So my cousin and I were out to the Bridgeport Gun Club on Sunday...it was great! The weather was wet but, there were a handful of members preparing to shoot some trap. We were introduced to some of the guys and hung out in the clubhouse around a comfy woodstove. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. After watching a round of trap, one of the members took us aside and introduced us to the sport by giving us our first lesson in trap shooting. I even managed to hit three clays in a row on my first try! We had a blast and are looking forward to becoming members at the next meeting. We were lucky enough to even get two sponsors while we were there.

I'm looking forward to getting into the sport and becoming a member. Thanks to all of the guys at BRGC that were there on Sunday!!

Glad to hear you had fun. I wondered if that was you out with Jimmy. He's a solid guy, who loves getting new people onto some targets.
See you some Thursday soon.

I talked to a couple of the guys but, probably not you...sorry about that. Next time! Were you there during the first round of trap? How long have you been shooting and what are you using for trap?

I just looked at a couple of used guns and I am considering at least one of these:

Browning BT99
Remington 3200 O/U

They actually belong to a former member of BRGC who is related to a friend of mine here in Kitchener.

Did you try many guns before your purchase, or did you have one already that was suited for trap?

Cheers!

Been shooting for just a few months actually. I think I was arriving about the same time you were. I was out for the second and third squads.

So I recently purchased a remington 1100 competition synthetic. I did try out a few guns before making my decision. When it came down to it, I wanted one gun that would suit my needs for trap, doubles, skeet, and maybe even some sporting clays.

Over / under would have done that, but to get one I would have been satisfied with for a few years at least, meant spending too much $$$. The remington is fully adjustable, so I knew it would fit, and came with a 5 chokes, which cover off any of my needs. Also, the recoil on it is NOTHING. I'm very happy.

Either of the options you've listed are great guns (from what I understand). If you have the chance to get them out shooting before deciding, even better.

If you're around for the first Thursday night shoot, introduce yourself. You're welcome to give my semi-auto a shot. It ran right around $1,000.00 brand new. If you're in the market, it's one more option.

Cheers.

Thanks for the offer! And yes, I want to come out the first Thursday night...I want to get out as many times as possible prior to the first meeting in June. I think I am hooked already, although it is all very new to me. Sounds like you did your homework on your purchase and it makes a lot of sense. See you at the club! Thanks again...
