Hi everyone

New to the forum, and would like to introduce myself. I live in London ON, and currently belong to the St. Thomas Gun Club, which is primarily Trap and Skeet. I have recently written and passed my restricted, so I will soon be joining East Elgin Club to facilitate my growing anticipation of firing handgun on a regular basis. I currently serve in the Canadian Forces (Reserve), So I have a fair amount of experience with the handling and operation of military firearms.

When I recieved my Non-Restricted last year, I was dismayed to find out that we as Canadians are no longer permitted to own operational FNC1's. I (along with many other Canadian servicemen, I'm sure) found a real friend in the old FN. That is, I could hit anything at almost any range with it. I have fired AR's AK's Steyers and many others, but in my opinion, nothing can compare. I think most of us were very sad to see it replaced with the C7. The C7 has it's merits (doesn't weigh you down like a sandbag full of bricks, for instance) but the FN was the best in it's class, and I miss it. I think it is a crime that we as Law-Abiding Canadian Citizens cannot possess one legally.

Ok. I've had my rant. It's gone and there's nothing for it but fond memories. At any rate, Looking forward to a long association with CGN, love the forums and boards, hope to chat with you all in the future.

Thanks again.

There are a lot of members, myself included that would like to own certain firearms and cannot do so legally. I had my rants about this too.
Welcome and enjoy the site.

ah the FN...... sigh......

well I'm kicking myself for not buying one while I had the chance, before the laws got stupid. I carried one for a while before the C7 family showed up.

well I found the only way to fill that particular hole is with a M14 (Norc M305) same ammo and marstar had a good price.

welcome to gunnuts, you'll find a lot of other military guys and gals here too

Welcome aboard, and hope you have a good time.

Lots of good people here.
I shot at St. Thomas once when I was a kid.
it was a very nice place, from what I remember.
The C1 was a great rifle, I had a cousin who used one as a hunting rig, and would not trade it for anything.

I prefer single shots myself, but can appreciate a well made rifle of any action.

Hi FirstHussar,

There are lots of East Elgin members on gunnutz (including me). You are going to LOVE their indoor range. You'll need to get your ATT of course before you can move your restricted guns around, but the EESA offers club courses if you don't already have one from St.Thomas.

I'm sure Stormbringer will be along soon to say Hi, and let you know about ATT courses at EESA.
