Hello from Lynden, Washington!

Hi All,

Several months back when I first posted, I said we were just in the process of registering to do firearms/ammo importing & exporting. We are now fully licensed, and are beginning to do our first few transactions. The next several weeks will be a 'beta testing' mode, as we work out any kinks in our system. We'll also post a website with all of our import/export details before too long.

In the meantime, if you'd like to get started on a gun right away, let me know and we'll figure out the details.

ALSO... we're having a great sale this weekend called the "Big Truck Sale," great sales and representatives from the Remington, Leupold, Springfield factories on site. See the below pictures from last year's sale. Our address/contact info is also below. Thanks! :)

Keep in mind that non US citizens are unable to buy any firearms or ammo on site, but we can always talk about an import/export. :)

welcome. In the past I've done a fair amount of business with you guys. Waaaay back when it was $10 to get a gun delivered to the border.

Welcome to CGN. I drive down regularly from Mission to Bellingham to visit my girlfriend there. I'll have to cut over to Lynden some day and drop in.

:) Stuart

Welcome. Will you pop rivet semi auto magazines for us that come with pistols? Magazine limit is 10 here. There are many nice pistols in the USA and it is difficult waiting to see what will arrive here, if at all. Also, how does it work? Is it then mailed directly, to a dealer here, or are there customs houses?

Hi Joel,

I dropped into the shop yesterday en route back home from visiting my gf. in Bellingham. Looks like a good place. I'll remember to say hi next time I'm in the store (I couldn't remember your name yesterday.)

And the answer is?

Hi there,

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you on this; we were having some difficulty getting everything flowing smoothly and wanted to make sure we were set to go before we continued working with new customers on this forum.

As far as the pop riveting to take the mags down to the 10 limit, that is something we could do, though we haven't before. Because there's been a lot of request for it now, I'll know more after we do our first few. As far as how the exporting works, if a person lives within driving distance of our local borders (lower BC), then we can meet customers at the border (or in our shop, and drive to the border together). In most other cases, the imported product can be mailed directly. I hope this helps!

Update on Import/Export Services

Hi again everyone,

After a few quiet months for us here on the forums, I'm back and ready to roll. We took a step back a few months ago to make sure that we could fully serve the customers that we had waiting to do exports before we were advertising the service here. Things are up and running smoothly now.

If you haven't already heard, there have been some major fee changes for most exporters recently, and some have even decided to close shop.

Today I posted our updated 'Fee Schedule for Exports.' There is also a new Import/Export tab on our website, www.davessports.com.

After much consideration, I believe we've come up with a Fee Structure that will continue to position us as the most competitive option for importing firearms, parts, etc to Canada. One reason that we're able to offer the service at a lower rate is that as the importer, you are required to do the work on your side of the border - which is quite simple: applying for an Import Certificate, registering the firearm into the CFC database, etc.

Here are the basics of our fees:

FIREARMS
$249 for the first gun, $99 for each additional on the same purchase order.

+ 3% of the value of the export license*

Call for a quote for quantities of 5 or more.

AMMUNITION, PARTS, COMPONENTS, ACCESSORIES, MIL-SPEC SCOPES

$149 for the first line item, $75 for each additional on the same purchase order.

+ 3% of the value of the export license*

Call for a quote for quantities of 5 or more different items.

DELIVERY/SHIPPING

Customer is responsible for shipping/delivery costs, billed at actual shipping rates.

Border Delivery is available to the Aldergrove/Lynden crossing for a flat fee of $50.

TAXES/DUTIES

Customer is responsible for all taxes & duties levied by Customs Canada.

These include provincial and federal sales taxes, usually at a 13% rate.

Duty may be charged on items manufactured outside of North America, most often at a 3.5% rate.

Have to be one king-hell of a good deal to make the math work for me - no criticism there but the US Powers That Be have certainly made exporting a very difficult and expensive enterprise. I think I'll be dealing with Canadians...

You guys are friendlier on the net than you are in person.........

Jennis, sorry to hear that you had a negative experience... I'd say that 99% of the feedback that we get is very good, but I guess no matter what you do some situations turn out less than ideal. Feel free to email me at joel@davessports.com if there's anything I can do to help you out.

Yes, it's very unfortunate that the US powers have made this so heavily regulated - the license that I have to export a .22 rifle to you, a Canadian sportsman, is the same license that is used to export nuclear components to foreign militaries... thus a lot of paperwork and costs involved. Most people that use this service are either (a) buying a gun/component that is otherwise unavailable in Canada, or (b) purchasing an item(s) that are of higher value, and thus worth the fee.

Best,

-Joel

I drop by every time I pass through Lynden and have picked up some bits and pieces that are just not available here. I also just like to stare at some of the stuff along the back wall.

Thanks. In most cases the pop rivet thing is easy. Glock magazines for instance. The viewing holes provide a rivet place. Other common designs, like AR mags, have standard measurable places for this, and are often indented rather than riveted, with a punch in a press for instance.

We fully understand the new situation with your Feds. That sucks all around.

The thing is that of no fault of yours, the magazine question becomes academic when THEY enforced the new fee on you. So I a cheap magazine- if I read this write - is now very expensive when the new fee is added. Note I am not suggesting the fee is of your doing.
