I lurk and post occasionally here but I had never introduced myself :)

I'm from Ottawa but going to Trent in Peterborough. Just got my PAL this summer, and am looking for my first gun. There's a break action single-barrel 12ga Cooey at Accuracy Plus I'm going to check out - for $75 why not :D

I'm majoring in History (mainly military history) with a minor in Philosophy. I hope to collect one of every major firearm used in the two World Wars in the next few years. It's nice to be able to put the feeling of the rifle in your hands into use when you read war memoirs and biographies.

Well congrats on your getting your PAL. I guess at one time or another all of us at CGN have owned a single shot .12 gauge and yes mine was also a Cooey.

If you have never fired one before, then your in for a treat! Because they are so light, they tend to kick like a mule! Try some lighter target loads to start with!

I've never fired a single shot, but I have shot clays with my friends 870 express super magnum. My very first shot ever was a 3.5" shell loaded with steel shot :D That kicked a little!

Oh, yeah a 3 1/2 will have a bit of a kick. That wasn't a very nice friend to give you a 3 1/2 shell your first time out. That's enough recoil to discourage anyone from every firing a gun again!

It wasn't as bad as I was expecting actually. The rest of the shells we shot were just target loads. I was hooked after that. Also got to shoot his lever-action .22 in both long rifle and short. I think my Canadian Tire pellet gun has more recoil than a .22 short :D

Where is Gunco? I won't be back in Ottawa for a few weeks but I'll defintily stop in when I do go back home.

I'm going to Trent University, I'm in my fourth year.

Along with the Cooey get some clays and a hand thrower. Best fun you can have on Saturday afternoon with your best friend (Guy or girl)

Greetings ........ :D
