BWAAHHAAAHHAAAAA!!!! That cracks me up. So, you grew up in the Surrey of the Viet Cong grow ops and the crack houses rather than the Surrey of the Whalley Burnouts and smoking up behind the Stardust roller rink :onCrack: - times sure have changed in that neck of the woods. It was never really a nice place to live per se but it was ours and we made the most of it. It's sad to drive through my old neighbourhood these days and see how things have changed :( .

ahhhhh good ol' stardust! I used to work right under the skytrain there. I saw it all. The best was witnessing several drug deals gone bad. I even was witness to a undercover police shoot out with suspected drug dealers. Bullets were flying 20 ft from me! Gool ol' whalley, anyone go to the dirty bird strip club? Or champagnes!

Actually I spent the first twelve years growing up in Munich, hanging out with Turkish, Ukranian and German kids.

In 1999 after my parents split my mom wanted to move back to Canada and out west. We kinda ended up... well... here. Spent the first 6 months living with my aunt Ottawa in the winter. Ottawa winters are NOT fun.

Speaking of Stardust, my ex used to work there when it was on its last legs. She'd have junkies coming in and buying candy with all the nickels and dimes that people toss them. Aparently the washrooms were a favorite for neighbourhood hookers to give $5 hummers.

i spent 95-2000 in whalley right under the skytrain area... WOW. I wish I had a camara back than. Your EX would have known crazy Mike that used to frequent all the stores along there.

To be honest, Whalley doesn't scare me as much anymore. Newton and birdland on the other hand....

... you lose all sense of orientation whatsoever.

I had a buddy who lived up in Birdland too - as I recall he owned a pit bull too :D . We used to have a blast playing with the dog having him bite a frisbee and then swinging him around in the air chomped onto it - dog loved it.

Course, when I used to go to Stardust there was no Skytrain there, at first there wasn't a train at all and then it only went as far as Columbia. Surrey came later. Also used to hang out at a video arcade across from the Caps bike store at the foot of 108th - then it turned into a pool hall, not sure what's there now. Roaches Pawn shop has ALWAYS been there but down where the bike delaership is (Yamaha?) past that on K.G. there used o be a underage night club. The Zone maybe? I forget.
