Name's Ivan, been shooting for a while, but i'm finally gonna go get my PAL and buy a pistol as i'm getting more and more into the sport

I have a question right away. I would really prefer not keeping whatever firearms i end up purchasing at home. (I'm 22, live with young people who drink too much, and dont need firearms for self defense. I'm sure i COULD keep firearms safe at home, but i'd feel better if they were elsewhere)

Is there legal means by which I can store firearms elsewhere? I'm going to try to find a gun club in Toronto which offers storage. Alternatively, mabye my bank will let me keep them in my safety deposit box, but i feel like i should check if this is legal before i ask.

It would NOT be a good idea to take your pistol into a bank :eek:. I will let others answer the remaining questions.
 
Hello and welcome. You might try a safe to which only you have the combination. I think I agree with StoneHorse about the problem with taking a pistol into a bank. If you do decide to do that, you might want to make really sure it's trigger-locked and in a locked case. Maybe you can get a large safety deposit box and put the case in there without opening it. In any case, make sure you've got the ATT and that everything is locked up tight.
 
My condolences all the way around, including the city you live in. But seriously, welcome. We were all new once - some later than others. Enjoy the sport.

NOT a good idea to contemplate storage of restricted at the bank. I doubt that the Chief Prov Firearms Officer would issue a Authorization to Transport to the bank. Furthermore I believe you can only store restricted at your residence or place of business. BUT I stand to be corrected on all the above. Follow tinna's advice and post this question in the legal section. There are some good guys who know this stuff inside out there.

Well, I see you are going to give the finger to Mayor Miller Time and go all the way and get an RPAL.....you deserve a big pat on the back for that brother!!!!!!

Good luck living in TO where, as a legal gun owner, you are labelled a threat to society. Hope you can help change things there. I pity gun owners and other sensible people in that city being surrounded by complete morons who vote like a flock of sheep.

I couldn't care less what David Miller or his rediculous socialist chronies want:)

I'll ask a more specific question in the legalese forum, but if I can only keep a restricted gun at my home or place of buisness, how could i keep it at a friends house?

I've been with the same bank for 15+ years, and move about lots of currency through their doors. Of course, if i ever ended going that route (doesn't seem likely), the gun would be safely stored away. I wouldn't just walk into a bank with a gun:D
