Hi all,

Currently living in Fort St John, BC, but I've pretty much lived all over Canada

Just received my long-term ATT for my new (well quite old actually, but new to me) handgun, and I'm really looking forward to hitting up the North Peace Rod and Gun club after work tomorrow to put some nice big .45 ACP rounds through it.

It's a blued Llama IX-A (Spanish 1911 replica) with walnut grips that has been well looked after and still feels very tight and field strips very easily

I know I know, lots of very mixed reviews about Llama pistols concerning their build quality, but through lots of forum browsing and model histories, it seems that there was a very specific time frame and manufacturing city that put out the bad units. Fortunately my gun was neither made in that time frame, nor that city in Spain so I am excitedly praying that my little (not quite so little actually) plinker will function well and reliably with tight groups like many of the other Llama's I've heard of with similar manufacturing history to mine.

I'm sure that's way too much to read for an intro post, so I'll shut up before I start annoying people. If there's anyone from my neck of the woods, feel free to say hi!

Welcome aboard! Get out and shoot your Llama, that's the important thing. If it shoots well, is reliable, and you're having fun, that's all that matters. Lots of time to upgrade when you can afford to.;):canadaFlag:

hey thanks for the welcome everyone!

Z06: you're right on the money there with what i was hoping to get out of this gun. i really don't need anything fancy (yet) just something that works, shoots straight, and feels good.

put 100 rounds through the beast at the range today, and i really really couldn't be happier! fired every shot without a hitch, and boy does that .45 feel like it means business, not a huge amount of recoil but a pretty impressive boom and the metal swivel targets at the handgun range sure knew when they were hit.

still have to get used to the gun, it's bigger and heavier than most of what i've shot before but i was picking the targets 5 out of 7 rounds for the last couple of mags so i have the feeling it won't be too long till i'm comfortable with it

the slide gave me a little nip on the hand one shot when i was more relaxed after a few mags and my grip got a little lazier, but i have pretty meaty hands and i have to watch my grip no matter what i'm shooting so i'm not too worried. a few more trips to the range (and the gun store for ammo) and i bet i'll be shooting it like a pro

although i love the punch of the .45, i might keep my ear to the ground for a 9mm or something for a 'regular' range gun to keep ammo costs down a bit and not have to reload so often. 7-round mags get empty real fast when you're having a good time

once again, thanks for all the welcomes
