I'm *really* new. I've never shot a firearm in my life. I've never touched one. I don't have a PAL. I don't have any actual training. In fact, the only time I ever see a real gun with my own two eyes is when its in the holster of a police officer. So I have a long way to go. The closest shooting range to me is the Wild West Shooting Range in West Edmonton Mall.

Right now, I'm working towards getting my RPAL and my first handgun. I have my eyes on a Sig Sauer P229 atm.

Well, wish me luck in my journey!

BTW, check this guy out: http://www.youtube.com/user/nutnfancy
He does a lot of gun reviews and also has a few philosophy videos (Obligation to Carry). I've actually seen a lot of his videos before finding this site. I've seen a lot of guns in video games and never really found myself interested in using a real gun, but his videos are what sparked my interest.

Good for you for finding this site, it will help you find a lot of answers to your questions and friends to go shooting with once you get your gear.

Hi and welcome. It sounds like you're thinking about learning to shoot handguns. If so, when you start shopping, make sure you find one that fits in your hand comfortably. Take your time choosing. .22s are certainly the easiest to start with, but the power difference is significant when you go to your next gun, which may very well be a 9mm. You might as well start with the 9. It will help you also to find someone who knows how to instruct, to help you get started. And take it slow and safe. Good luck with it, and enjoy this site. A lot of good information shows up here, and a lot of people are ready to help.
