Hello to all,

Ok Who I am ?
Im Steve(n) ######x, age 24,I currently live in Kingston Ontario. Tomorrow I should find out if I pass college where I spent the last 2 years of my life by taking Police Foundations which gives you better footing to become a cop, not sure if I will become one but it give me lots a routes to go.

Experience:
Been involved with firearms for 80% of my life, both parents were in the military, both hunted. So naturally I took to firearms. When my parent broke up, My hunting days went with my father. But now I am back and looking forward to hunting and being at the range. I guess now you can say Im back at the greenhorn stage.

What I am looking for:
To learn! I would like to become someone sidekick as soon as I can get myself a rifle. Travelling is not an issue! I would like to learn how to Zero scopes, Handloads, ranging.... Everything and anything someone is willing to teach.

So if there is any question please ask. PM me or message in here so others may learn as well.

I hope to meet some of you someday.

AHH warm welcomes lol, After 2 years in College, I learned there is no such thing as stupid questions.

I am hoping to pick up a little .22 cal to teach the "wife" (girlfriend for 6 years  She just got her PAL too) as well as myself, just to get into the swing of things. I just joined the exchange forum so I am awaiting to be allowed in there to see If I can pick anything up.

We have to take the hunters course, Just wondering if some one could give me the layout of what they teach. The only think I dont completly understand is the DRAW system. I just want to take a Bull moose this season  I convinced my "Wife" and my Mother to get their PAL and soon their hunting license as well my step father should be going through the process soon too. So thats 4 people soon to be shooters/hunters.

Hey GreenIce, Might have to take you up on that offer, I used to live in Penhold just out side of RedDeer, we used to hunt in LH5 not sure if it is still called that and off the top of my head cant remember where it was but we alway EVERY year pulled out with moose, elk, deer....Hell if we could hunt it we did. Really good spot, next time I talk to my father I'll find out the spot and tell you.

Thanks again for the welcoming.

Steve

:shotgun: Welcome aboard fellow gunner and hunter!!!! It's good to ask questions......the best way to learn. Sorry I'm not that much of an expert on rifles........I personally do a fair amount of shotgunning(trap, skeet, bird hunting, and slug gunning for big game, as well as muzzleloading!! The best advice anyone can give is to" keep it simple" as much as possible!!!!

Find some ranges in your area, and then ask if anyone from CGN is a member there and can show you around/shoot/chat with. You'll find that For every question here there are at least 3-4 answers, and most of them will even be correct :)

Awsome thanks, Good news is my Buddy Ykarambetsos who is on this board has aready put in name in for the draw where he lives so I might get a chance to hunt for a moose. Now I just have to save up for a rifle and find someone in the kingston/ottawa area to help me out zeroing in the rifle when I get it and hopefully go for some groundhogs!

Just have to get my hunter safety course! Anyone suggest a good place to go ? Between Kingston/ottawa with good teachers?

Wow I have answered so many of my question reading this board but have opened up so many more LOL.

My biggest one on my mind and is killing me.

How do I go about meeting CGN'ers? How do I approach them ?

Stupid questions I am sure. But I would like to meet some of you! Like I said I have little to no experience dealing with firearms/hunting and I would like to get going ASAP but would like to hook up with some experienced people. So do I just message them saying im going to be in the area want to have a coffee or just message them with short questions and try to build something up ?

I am hoping that I can buy a rifle this year and start hunting. But I need to find a job! I left my last job because they wouldn't work with my college schedule but now thats done and its time to make money for what I hope to be a good long hunting and shooting hobby.

Again for everyone that I have talked to I appreciate everything.

When you get your new rifle and want it sighted in the Frontenac Rifle & Pistol Club in Kingston on Macadoo Lane has hunter sight in. You just bring a donation to the food bank.

You asked how to meet some fellow GN's in Kingston. There is a few of us at the Kingston club.

The web site is http://www.frpc.ca/ The calendar of events will give you the schedule for the hunter courses to. I just took my course there this year and, like you, am looking forward to a successful hunt.

Welcome and hunt safe.

AWSOME Lineman, I have driven up there so many times tempted to go in and check it out but since I dont have a gun or the money right now I dont know if I could handle my jealousy.

CRAP! Looked at the calender and noticed that its in June which I wont have the cash at that time to get in on it. Hopefully there is one somewhere else that I can get to. Dang its hard to get a job in Kingston.

Whos all the Kingston crew? Hunters or Shooters or both??

The club has both hunters who shoot as well as shooters who hunt. We have lots of stuff to participate in. There's even a cowboy action match coming up in June.

Good luck with the job search. Kingston is nice place to live. :dancingbanana:
