Hey I am looking for some help . I have an 870 super mag and i have been having problems with it all the time now. I use it for waterfowl .
So It has been having Hard extractions, I had to put it into my side and use both hands the other day and also some shells have been getting stuck in the tube ....
I almost used it as a water dart last time i was out !

I have had it apart and cleaned so many times ... everything looks good ... i dont know

Thanks

I have a thread a little bit down about the low brass issue in shells, I had the exact same problem with my super mag but with all size shells. I currently have sent it to remington for repair because its under warranty and free, so why not! This gun seems to not do well with low quality ammo

I was not able to open that link .....

It happens with all size shells and I am using Kent Fast Steel for ammo....

So it has been having hard extractions...

~ Clean and polish the chamber. "OOO" or "OOOO" steel wool on a dowel under power usually works well.

...shells have been getting stuck in the tube ....

~ Make sure you are not short stroking the action, the super mags are longer then the other 870's.
~ Clean the mag tube and all it's parts. The plug goes to the front. Replace the mag spring if needed.

If you are familiar with how the Action Bars operate the Latches, check for the Latches stubbing the Action Bar.

This sounds like a good idea!

I experienced extraction problems with Kent fast steel in my express magnum (3") and my mossy 500 (3") Polishing did not help much. ALL other brands shot worked great. I blame the shells and I no longer buy them. Some US based waterfowl forums complain of the same issue. Even the cheap Winchester Hi V 1550 FPS loads worked perfect. It is likely ammo. A chamber polish never hurt though on Remmy express models.

Thanks for the help and i will try polishing the camber and try different shells next time i am out ....
If it is the shells that sucks lol i am not even half way through the case i bought .

You need;

-power drill
-12ga cleaning rod
-12ga bore brush
-Steel wool
-Gun oil

Put the 12ga rod and brush into the drill chuck, then wrap the 12 brush in steel wool. Soak the steel wool in gun oil and slide it into the chamber of your barrel "barrel off the gun"

Then turn the drill on and go back and forth for about 2min. after that clean your barrel and test fire you gun :)

Well I have been out twice since i polished the chamber with 0000 steel wool

And not one problem and i have gone through two boxes of Kent !!!!
Thanks everyone for the help
