Help and Suggestions

Hey all, so I need a little help / advice. I really want to get into some longer range shooting, for me that's 500+ yards, a friend of mine sold me a .308 that he had no need for and I'm looking for some nice optics that will work with for me as I would like to reach 1000 yards (someday) now the catch is I have a budget of about $600.00. When looking at scopes I get overwhelmed as I'm new to scopes and there seem to be 1000000000 different options and prices! I don't even really know where to start!

Can anyone suggest a nice rifle scope, in my price range that will work well for my 500 too 1000 yards? Thanks in advance.

First thing you have to figure out is if you want to use MOA or mil. All my scopes are MOA and some I dial for long range and other I just use the hash marks in the scope. The scope should also have target turrets as well. Now the brand, there will be a hundred opinions kind of like Ford vs Chevy. There are quite a few to choose from for a resonable price scope with MOA hash marks (which is my preference) look at a sightron or the vortex. There are lots on here used and are usually a couple hundred off new price.
I would also look for something in the 20 power range on the high end if you are looking to get to 1000 yards.
