Recently acquired a wood stock/holster that initially thought was for a Broom handle Mauser. My research led me to believe it's a walnut stock/ holster from a Browning 9mm. What typre of Browning would this be fitted for and what is the current value. It is mint condition and all hinges work fine. It is marked SAL 1945 ( I believe that it was made at the Small Arms factory near Toronto during the war.) Thanks, Mutt

Not sure about price, but it would be for the Browning P35 or Hi-Power 9mm pistol. Only some had the slot on the backstrap to attach the stock to them though.

The Chinese contract is what the holster/stock was made for.
However, there are some decent copies being sold in the US and they are not bad. You have to look twice to see they are not Canadian quality. Rough milling around the wood where the hinges fit are the first clue and NO bit of white fabric in the nose of the pistol well.

Here is a picture showing one of the Chinese Contract Inglis HPs with the stock attached. There is also a piece of webbing on the back side of mine.

Thanks Wolfie, I have a BH Mauser as well and couldn't figure why this damned stock wouldnt fit, then another CGN'r posted pics of a Browning with the same holster. That led me to the SA website, but not clear exactly which Browning it was made for and what the current value is , which caused me to post here.

Thanks Wheaty, from what I read some of the fakes have Made in Canada stamped under the SA Ltd. 1945 stamp. The one I have is clean milled and white cloth or yellow white felt in the bottom. Any idea what a real one in excellent shape is worth ? Maybe I should find Chinese Browning and mate the two up? PS Im working on those pics, Ive always had trouble posting pics on this site, Mutt

Wheaty: Sorry for the mixed msgs. The date on mine is actually 1944 not 45 as earlier posted. On closer examination, there appears to be a yellow/white piece of felt in the bottom, almost unnoticeable to my tired eyes.

Link doesn't work, something screwed up with photobucket photo address. I can't get to your photos to fix it.

That looks like the real deal to me. I'd be comfortable buying that one.

Nice condition also. I can't comment on value too much though, usually the dealers ask crazy prices but they seldom sell.
