I can't get my head around this, there is a lock nut knurled on the left side of the barrel, and a screw on the bottom of the micrometer unit, if I turn the unit past 10 lets say, the bottom screw is no longer treaded, and falls off with the sleeve , what gives, what am i missing, is there a video on how to set this thing up between 19 and 25 grains lets say...I know it don't measure grains or weight, got that much...its just the screw , knob on the side deal thats got me confused, the side knob don't seem to do squat, its the bottom screw that locks the micrometer sleeve in place..
anyway , someone explain this unit please.

Been a long time since I set mine up, but I never touch the screw in the bottom of the micro. I adjust the charge and then use the screw on the side to lock the micro.

I have one and it works great. The side screw locks the micrometer after you make adjustments. When its tightened, you can't turn the micrometer. Simply loosen the side screw, adjust your micrometer and tighten. I have also used it without tightening the side screw. Did you get it used? The only reason I ask is that the instructions that came with mine were self explanatory, and for a boy that was born and raised on the rock, thats saying something.:)

Hey thanks guys, found the problem, its a new unit, and the micrometer was bottomed out , or should I say in, and when I rotated the barrel counter clockwise to increase volume the set screw would also loosen off, and the barrel would fall free within 20 or so units of measure, so I took it off, and backed the measure off by hand, then placed it back together .. Now the set screw remains tight, and the unit rotates through the range without a problem..And the side knurled knob works to lock the barrel...:D
i KNEW IT HAD TO BE SOMETHING STUPID....:HR:
