So my brothers SKS has lost a bit of wood and is to the point where its shaking around in the stock. Not the best for accuracy. We figure its time to figure out how to bed a stock.

What compound does one use to bed a stock and where do I find it?

anyone know of any ressources on the sks as far as bedding?

this link is to a thread on bedding with an epoxy of some sort. like jb weld .. this is a different kind of rifle though i think i saw one where a guy used jb weld but only in a few spots like right at the point the barrel hits the receiver and the rear of the receiver. i am interested in this as well my stock has some slop to it....

For bedding I use Brownells AcraGlas. Most gun stores carry it or you can order from them online. For release agent I use Kiwi neutral shoe polish.

The left side of the stock. Rectangular notch is for the scope mount.

The right side of the stock.

Hope this helps.

I bedded an SKS using essentially the same method as used on a M-1 or M-14. These are similar in that they all latch together. Bedded the receiver at its pressure points, as well as the trigger guard. Set it up so it took a good push to latch the trigger guard into place. Also bedded the tip of the stock into its bracket. The rifle shot very well.

thread pirates this is about bedding the action of an sks get your minds out of the gutter. sheesh.
