I've never owned a lever action so I'm hoping someone can offer some useful advice for this little bit of information I have. A woman I really like has a Browning BLR Lightweight 81. Her issue is that the lever hasn't been closing flush with the stock while loading, bolt not achieving full battery. She says on her first round today it wouldn't close up fully by a few millimeters, she ejected it and cycled the next round and that one loaded good and achieved fully battery, fired it, cycled again and another failure to lock and load. So she ejected them all. We don't live in the same town so there is only so much I can do but find some more information for her on this symptom. She won't be using the gun again until we get this sorted out. Any information you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Any ideas of possible causes welcome. I will also do a youtube search. Thanks.

Sorry, caliber is a 270...

I would suspect the ammo is ever so slightly over size or the headspace of the rifle is ever so slightly short... more in likely the ammo.

I have the same gun in .308 and the only times I've had anything like that was when I bought some Euro-crap cheap ammo - that would be my first guess.
