Help! Can't take the rear sights off!

Unscrew the inner screw on the windage side to it is good and loose. Then hold the elevation knob and unscrew the windage knob. Should pull apart then.

I did it last night and had a bit of trouble seperating them as well. Think the inner or shaft threads were a bit stripped. If it still dosent come make sure the windage knob is completely unthreaded from the base and the only thing holding it on is the shaft from the elevation side still threaded inside the small inset screw on the windage side. Try using some force and pull gently on the windage knob as you unscrew the inner screw. Hope it helps.

it's not just "pull apart" either- it's WIGGLE as you're pulling-at least that's the way with every one i've seen unless it's humped and the splines are buggered- then it's time for a hammer and punch to get it started- GENTLY

All good advice up above. You see the Chinese sights come with all kinds of unpredictable issues as we are discovering. All the suggested methods make sense, just don't try to get the chinese ones without any goofy surprises. That's the beauty of changing your elevation and windage knobs to USGI or M1 Garand format. NOW, they will work the way things are designed to work! :D

Keep us posted how it comes together!

That worked. Thanks. What I did wrong was I loosened both screws at the same time and for some reason that didn't allow me to pull the knobs apart. I tightened the elevation knob in all the way and then loosened the windage one. With a lil' wiggling i unscrewed the windage side and the rest is history!

Thanks for the posts everyone. : )

Yup I went thru the same problem last night. Actually a had that same problem when I took them off the first time when I scoped it. But I decided to go back to irons and now had to take them off again and had to figure it all over again. I really should take notes. ;) my new set from treeline came in. And I love them. Sure are a beauty upgrade from the chi-com originals. Glad to help

I got mine from treelinem14 as well. Thanks for the advice, I was about to chamber a round in my SKS and shoot the thing off, lol.
