Help choosing a Remington 700

Viper PST FFP 6-24x50

That is a very nice scope but at the very top of what I would consider spending and the same price as a Sightron SIII that has a good track record thus far.

The Vortex Viper line seems to be a wicked piece of glass for the price and the PST line will deffinatly keep that track record going.

So many options so little money!

I am using the Vortex Viper 6.5-20X50 with the BDC reticle on my LR rig right now, and I'm waiting on rings to show up so I can mount up my Vortex Razor 5-20X50. But to be honest, as much as I love the Razor--and I really do love that scope! I am VERY impressed with the Viper so far. For a scope that is under $600 you really can't go wrong.

Good luck with your new rig! I am sure you are going to love it!

Almost same dilemna as you. Sold off my 10FP target rifle and traded my Ruger Laminate Compact to get one rifle that does hunting and target. I was settled on a Savage 10 Precision Carbine, as I'm a Savage fan, but I ended up trading for a Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308.

If you want to hunt with the heavy barrel, I definitely recommend a 20" barreled SPS or Savage 10 PC. Either way, bipod would be way useful.

The hogue stock does have flex, but from what I've read, the rifle still shoots awesome. For a replacement, I would get a Bell and Carlson (#2094) or possiblly a McMillan A5?

For the price, I think a Bushnell Elite 6500 Tactical 4.5-30x is the best value going. Although I currently own a 3200 Elite Tactical 5-15x and at 15x, can still see holes in targets out to 300 yards.

You said budget...what were you thinking?

Yeah its a perfect barrel length. Its really compact yet from what Ive seen it doesnt give up any accuracy.

I got a good deal on an EGW 1 piece base aswell as a set of TPS rings and a Falcon Menace 4.5-14x44 FFP Mildot scope so that will get me going for now! Im going to run some Federal GMM 168's through it and see how well I can shoot it.

I think so far with what ive got coming im at the $1200 mark? Give or take a bit.

Going to keep it under 2k with all the reloading equipment and stuff I plan on getting soon enough and start doing lots and lots of shooting! Cant wait for the rest of the goodies to arrive so I can get it all together and shoot!
