I need Help choosing a scope

Im looking for something variable to a high magnification like a 6-24x40 or 50 with a mil dot reticle for hunting and long range target shooting. Id like to keep it under $800

Its to go on top of a Tikka t3 heavy barrel Varmint in 6.5x55

I have a tasco varmint 6-24x40 sitting around to use for now, but would like to upgrade a bit.

Zeiss Conquest

Would recommend the Conquest series with the Z-600,Z-800 reticle. Purchased one last year mounted on my 270 and I'm impressed with the optics and the ability to dial in specific bullet type for hits at 200,300,400,500 and 600 yards - mine is a 3-9x40 Z600. At the time I paid about $850 but everyone has them now for around $680. I'm going to add another one on my 22-250.

Sightron SII Big Sky 6.5-20 $675

SIII LR 6-24X 50 $900

Both are excellent for your intended uses and have mildot reticles. Optics are superb as is the tracking. Side focus work great in concert with the obj focus. Both image and reticle can be dialed in perfectly.

I shoot both scopes and have used a variety of Bushnell Elites, Nikons, Burris, Leupold and NF. The Sightrons are the best value in LR scopes for me today.

GO with the Vortex Viper you will not be disappointed. Not to mention that there is a lifetime guarantee on them. The glass is bright, the focus sharp. I have one with the BDC reticule on my 300 Win Mag and will likely put the same scope on my 6.5-06 build.

Best part is you won't break the bank on your purchase either.

I'll be following this thread.

I almost thought about buying a NcStar b/c I gave up on searching a quality one and wanted to play with a cheapo one. I think it has very similar specs like the Sightron 6.5-24x50 but for ~$130. lol

I'm going to mount it on a Norc M4. Might as well go with the theme (stay Chinese) but it might be a very bad idea.
