Hey guys, I'm new to the large caliber rifle game and want to make this gun proper to suit my needs right from the beginning. I'm hoping you might be able to give me a hand cause I am by no means an expert when it comes to scopes.

Looking for a 300 yard max scope for moose and bear in Ontario, that can also do close 25 yard shots.
I keep reading that zeiss are the best to spend your money on.

Thanks,

C.f

I have a 2.5-15 Meopta first focal plane on mine, and couldn't be happier. I can hit targets plenty fine out to 800 yards, but for 25 to 300 its ideal. Crystal clear 30mm tube 56mm objective, light not too long, cover turrets so they don't get bumped or moved, lets in lots of light, but most importantly is the clarity of the glass. you can really see and differentiate things at low light. In my opinion its every bit as clear as swarovski for less than 1/2 the price, its a beautiful scope.

The above scope sounds nice, but it's certainly not my ideal scope for hunting with the parameters you've given. I'd go with a 2-7 on the light end, fixed 4x in the middle, and a 3-9 on the top end. I'd also skip any kind of ballistic reticle or turrets or parallax adjustment for inside of 300yds on moose and bear. Buy the best quality you can afford, and personally I'd by a used higher end over a new scope. They just about all have excellent warranty. Get a Leupold, Zeiss, or at the lower end, at least in my view Bushnell.

In addition, I favor lighter scopes, lower mounting, and generous eye relief, combined with top optical quality. A big ask, but they are out there. Choose wisely grasshopper.

I'm happy with a bushnell elite 6500 2.5-16x42 on my tikka 300wm. It's got a great zoom range and tons of eye relief. It's light for the magnification too.

Yea +1 for the 6500 with it's 3.9" eye relief or a Vortex Viper with it's 4" eye relief. With a light T3 and 300 mag your going to need all the distance from that scope you can get.

Hey thanks guys for all the input.

Sask31, did you do any modifications to it, I've been reading that most people change out the aluminium recoil lug and plastic bolt Shroud. As well I've seen that many change out the tikka scope rail and rings.
