I like Harris Bipods myself - never used a versa pod. I have heard that the best bipods are Parker Hale ones but they are pretty expensive...

Did you return it for warranty? The VersaPod folks ask no questions on warranty issues, unlike harris.
I called them, and would only be cover for breackage. not for general wear.
