Help figuring out my 6.5x55 with 4064...

The load that I use in my tikka t3 for the 95gr v-max is 47gr of H414 SL10. Shoots half minute consistantly out to 400+meters. This is or was one of the bulk powders available from Higgonsons.

H414sl10 is roughly the equivalent of W760. It is slightly slower. It has the attribute of being extremely consistant under all conditions.

Went into a frenzy and bought a bunch of H7SL10 a few years back. Do you know if it is the same stuff? It is supposed to be a 414 clone too. It is a ball powder and sounds like the stuff you are describing. I haven't actually found a use for it lately, though it worked well in my 06.

6.5x55 update

Well, been doin' some shooting, here's what I get: All with Rem 140 coreloks
H4831
45g 2424,2445,2487,2437,2428 = 1" group
46g 2543,2533,2562,2555,2568 = 4 in .75"
46.5g 2643,2538,2534,2546 = 1.5"
47g 2661,2635,2597,2660 = 1.5"
IMR 4064
37.5g 2464,2472,2468,2474,2484 = 2"
38g 2516,2505,2521,2510,2509, 3 in .75"
38.5g 2573,2564,2607,2548,2525, 2.5" ( who know what happened here!)
39g 2598,2615,2604,2578,2626, = 1.25"
H4350
43g 2526,2542,2643,2648,2658 = 3 in .75, rest 1.25
43.5g 2645,2618,2625 = 1.75"
44.5g 2659,2667,2647,2648,2658 = 1.5
45g 2703,2694,2717,2722,2758 = 1.5"

So, here's what I noticed, every powder has a group that put at least 3 in .75" and those groups where all at about 2500fps....So is that maybe telling me that this gun likes that bullet at that speed? I'd really like to have my hunting 140's doing about 2700. Also, quite often the 5 shot group with this thing is in a 3 and 2 pattern, the 3 are close, like .75" and then the 2 move out to maybe 1.5"...It doesn't seem to be the first 3 round that are close either. some times 1,4,5 sometimes 2,3,5 are the close ones. Think I'll try some other bullets and see what happens there, any thoughts? She seems like a fine 1.5" hunting rifle, but I'm looking for a bit better.

You have to work out your loads

My own rifle, a Tikka T3 HB SS Varmint, puts about anything in much less than an inch. Did you check what is the Leade lenght? Whathever mine does not really mind a lot OAL, it shoots better when the cartridge is longer.
It doesn't really mind primers, though. But cartridges prep and classification is quite important to achieve good grouping.
Try different primers, don't overheat the barrel, play with OAL etc.
My favourite powders are ; IMR 4831 / RL22 / RL 19.

This is a 15 shots 100m target; 12 shots, Lapua Brass, Remington PSP Core-Lokt 140gr, WLR primers, IMR 4831 @ 2640fps / 2 shots, all the same except brass was PPU (Prvi Partizan) / and 1 shot (the flyer) is after cleaning.

Now we're at MOA....

Ah, beginning to think that this rifle needs to be bedded....but after searching around the internet it seems that most people say not to bother. Well this rifles history is that it is a T3 Lite stainless, but I've got it in a walnut stock. I put it back in the plastic stock and ran some groups through it. 140 Rem coreloks and 46.5g IMR 4831 and 47g. Both groups of 5 right on 1". SO I think that walnut stock will be getting a bedding job in the future, but 1" is good enough for me...might get a hair less with some better shooting from me!! By the way, I shot these last 2 groups of 5 by shooting a quick 2, then walking down to the target after each of the next 3 rounds, so about 4-5 minutes cooling in between. The first 2 are the ones I'm really worried about and they both go about .5"

Does anyone shoot the 123gr. MatchKings by Sierra ?
I picked up a box of these today, but can't find any
load data for them. Not even in Sierra's own book.
Would you use data for the 120grs. as a start ? Thx. all
