Yes, lube the case and then shove it out from the muzzle end with the rammer. Also make sure you clean up properly after use as BP is very difficult to get completely clean. My best results come from pouring the barrel full of boiling hot soapy water (dish detergent) a couple of times so the barrel get very hot the swab and clean using solvents or BP cleaners. Also clean the breech and the outside around the breech. Sound like great fun. Can you post pics of the rifle? Dave

The problem is most of the time is not sticking in the barrel so you cant ram it out with a cleaning rod.
I tumbled the cases and they where spotless, the barrel is spotless clean I let it sit for a few days everything in the barrel hardened and turned to flakes then put a cleaing bush thru all the crap came out... ran some solvent and then some oil. It was fired 22 times then i let it sit and clean it I took it out and fired 11 times and then cleaned it.
I will post some pictures of the gun and problems later on today.

Oh my grandpa was wondering what this gun is worth...
So here is how it works you break it open like so... insert a 54 cal ball then the brass plug behind filled with blackpowder and a wad. tThe wad keeps the black powder in place so you could put the brass case in your pocket technically.
Thats what it looks like loaded then you swing the handel back and lock it in place put a cap on the nipple and then #### it back and fire. Here is where my problem happens after fireing it should look like the picture here how ever sometimes it looks like the picture below this one and its stuck in the reciver.
Sometimes this happens I carefully tapped the brass case on both sides till it became loose then closed the barrel on it and then extracted it from the barrel... question is why is it sticking in the reciver part of the gun sometime and other times it works properly.
