Help for a lever action

I think that this thread went on too long and the original poster got turned around, and may end up with another .308, only in an older style gun with the longest action, other then the Ljungman. You wander around in the bush lost long enough and you end up passing your starting point several times. I used to see alot of BLRs come into the shop for repair, so I'd pass on them. I'd recommend a Marlin in any of the heavy hitters....35 Rem., .356 Win. if you can find one, 44 Mag., .444 Marlin, .45/70 and don't look back.

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a lever action rifle and I need a lot of help on this subject. What models are there, makes, calibers and length of barrel? Whatever else I need to know would be a great help!

I'd like to go hunting with it so a caliber that will take care of deer, moose, bear etc. I would want one that we can use revolver or pistol ammo (eg. 44, 357 or whatever). I do reload so I would just need to pick up the die set. Any info would be great. If you have other recommendations, I am all ears. I do have a 308 Rem bolt but now I'd like to get into lever action.

Thanks for the help.
Cheers.

IMO I'd stay away from the .444's and 45/70 unless you want shoulder (nose, eye) surgery from sighting it in and and hamburger with hair from your hunt. I've shot a few deer and bear with a 45/70 and although it puts them down alright it makes a collosal mess if you hit the shoulder or big bone= much wasted meat. Just my opinion please dont rant on me now....
