When cleaning the barrel of my .308 it is sometimes very difficult to get threw the cotton patch and cleaning rod, sometimes having to really force it threw, is this normal?? Am I doing damage to the rifling from forcing it to much?

I use wipe-out foam to clean and it works great, my cleaning rod and accerories are the right size, (doubled checked that afterwords), am I missing something here?

I've had the same problem with some types of patches. In particular ones that have a rough pattern of lines on it. I usually just use the Gunslick ones and have no issues, but especially when a rifle is new I've noticed it's a little tough sometimes.
Try switching types of patches, and if it's a real problem maybe use a smaller one. You aren't doing damage to anything unless the rod is flexing so much that it starts to bang on the bore or mouth of the barrel.
