Hi folks,

Until recently, today in fact I've never had any interest in red rifles, I focus all on commonwealth and USGI firearms. Kudos to those that know them all I find that I don't have enough time to dedicate to my main focuses. Any how have an opportunity to own a very clean mosin, polish and 1953 I believe. So my question what can you tell me about this rifle? What is it and what's it worth? Looks unissued as new condition

Thanks in advance for your input
Cheers

Polish version of an M44, looks in excellent condition. Grab it up! Watch your focus shift. An M44 was featured in one of the latest episodes of "The Walking Dead", so prices will skyrocket :)

You are right on many accounts. My understanding is the tooling was sent to Poland.
They produced what is known as the best and most refined on the M44's. They were immediately greased and put into storage awaiting the hordes from the west that never came. Once the "Wall" fell, out they came and sold to the west.
Now that you have an M44 you need to get the matching TT33. I have one of each and from the same year. Both are 53's.
Same smooth finish and wonderful bluing on both.

As for value that is all over the map. I paid $180 OTD but it was a consignment at a gunsmith. My bayo is not matching as it didn't have one when I bought it.
