I finally pulled the trigger (no pun intended) and purchased the XL750. So far easy setup but I am just at the casing expansion and the bullet seating and having a bit of an issue with it. Anyone in the Ottawa area (East end) that could help out?

I've seen many videos and still I feel that is not correct, I am going to be measuring powder this week so it would be great if I can pick someones brain for a bit.

TIA

Cheers

Bullet seating has nothing to do with the brand of press, more to do with the dies you're using. The case flare does though. What kind of problem are you having with it? the I have a 650, not sure if the powder measure and powder die are the same?

I don't have issues per say, just looking for guidance from someone that has done the setup. I'm 75% done but some seating looks good and some is too much. It's funny to watch the youtube videos that out of the box they get reloading lol

I Do not have a Dillon

Watch lots of youtube .... Progressive press ... it does not have to be blue

you should
Make up a few dummy rounds

Do a plonk test

oal is just a number it is not carved in stone

you might want to do your first stuff in stages

you might want to check your primer seating before you do too many

or just do 10 or 20 pcs of brass so you can go to a range and test them

the worst thing you can do is make 2-3-400 rounds and have a problem with them

https://youtu.be/oOy-KPK-rSM watch that step by step it explains everything. Make sure you have brass in every station when you are adjusting your dies.
If you are using mixed brass expect to get oal variations.

that is the video I used when setting it up, it was quite easy and clear how to do it. It's the dies where I'm having trouble but good point on the different brass, I'm going to look for same brass at least for the initial setup. It will be mixed when doing a larger batch but it shouldn't vary that much as long as it sits properly in the brass I guess.

Are you over expanding? That causes bullet seating issues. You shouldn't expand deep, just enough to flair and bullet seat snug. over crimping can cause issues.

I am not familiar with lyman dies, i have dillon xl 750 with carbide dies for seating and crimp and mighty armory sizing die and DAA expander. I took me from unboxing to full run in 2hrs. I never sorted out my brass just checked oal every 5 rds. Variations should run you from 1-2 thou

Post a picture of the finished round on caliper
