Okay so I have one of those blue Canadian Tire trigger locks on a Glock and I need to have it removed. The keys are lost in the mail and it is primarily a Canada Post issue involving a missing S&W 686-a whole other drama filled story. So how can I get the trigger lock off? What is the easiest method? I'm sorry if this should be in a different section, I thought since it's on a Glock than it might apply. Anyway any help is appreciated.

Happy New year Gunners

I have a key lock and for the life of me, youtube and my meager at best skills can't open it! I'm gonna try to drill it out and will update post later if it works.

Something like this might work.

If you don't care about the lock.. Simply drill it off..

Pick a drill bit slightly smaller than the part the key goes in. The drill away.. It will fall apart once you are far enough.

You could drill it, but picking it open (as shown in various youtube vids) is quicker and easier. I
ve done dozens of them - and the first took a bit to get the knack, after taht, it's a 30 second job with your eyes closed.

Estimate where the spring loaded retainer is on the side of the lock and drill there. But the sure fire way is using a small standard screwed driver. Once you have it in position (wedged under the retainer) wiggle it off. Never fails. At least this way you will still have a good lock, which you can just try other keys untill it opens.

Okay so I left the drilling up to another guy and needless to say I have a damaged trigger guard but the trigger lock is gone. ####ty start to the new year but kinda serves me right. Thanks for your input guys, I tried for about an hour or two but it didn't seem to work. Check the exchange for a good deal on an otherwise excellent gun soon possibly.

if you damaged something drilling it you, you did it wrong.

Not that that's a terribly helpful statement, but for the future:

1- drilling a lock is the last resort. There much better ways of getting it off (including the youtube vid to just bypass, or picking)
2- if you're drilling it off, your goal is to separate the pin stack, which is where the 'cuts' of the key go. A 1/8" drill will get you through the four pins pretty quickly, then use a screw driver to turn it. No damage, no issues.

Glad you got it off, hope there's a lesson in all of this for those in the future :)
