Ok guys i need some help on some Enfields and M1 Carbine. A guy at work want's to get rid of some guns. He is not shooting any more (for years). 100 bucks for Enfield 150 for M1 and 50 for a cooey model 60. The bores I understand what to look for. The M1 has no bolt or mag. I have been reading two different bolt design. then I have to add the cost for head spacing at LGS What model I don't know. The Enfield not sure what model. He told me the stock is stamped US on one side and British on other . The gun does not have a full wood stock, What do I need to look for on these guns to see whether they are worth buying for a good shooter and collectors I know I'm looking for a deal. like all of us CGN hope to get some collectors piece out of the storage area, I think we all think the same Dam there is got to be one precious gun in some guys garage calling my name LOl Just some basic models a serial numbers Why sport stock and diffeent models I'm going to check them out in the next few days
Thanks in advance age

The Enfield sounds like a Savage made No 4 Mk 1*, probably says US Property on the upper left beveled edge and ENGLAND stamped on it (or .303 British?) If the barrel has been uncut (1& 1/2" sticking out past the front sight block, with the square bayonet lugs intact) and receiver not drilled for a scope, well worth $100 (heck the magazine alone sells for about $50) , double that if the bore is good and matching bolt.

I would gamble and say those are pretty fair prices. I've bought a pig in the poke befor. Some I lost but usually I won.

M-1 Carbine Bolts can be had under $100. M-1 Carbines go generally for several times that. Be aware that a standard M-1 Carbine has an 18-inch barrel..... and that is a serious no-no in this Free Country of ours: has to be 18-1/2 inches. With the standard 18-inch barrel it is a restricted and you need the RPAL to purchase legally. OTOH, without a Bolt it is just parts; you might get away with that, should it not have been registered previously (better than 75,000 which were known to be here were never registered).

Lee-Enfield with US and British markings does sound very like as above from VINVER. Excellent hunting rifle and, if the Barrel has not been bobbed (as some few were), it ought to be in good shape. That is quite a decent price on it, also. The military woodwork and few metal bits can be sourced over a period and the thing restored fully if that is what you like. Better than doubles the dollar value, too. Very slick and VERY fast rifle to use, ballistic twin to the oh-so-modern 7.62 NATO (.308 Winchester), has enough wallop to keep the old freezer full for a long time to come. It can be scoped with a no-drill S&K mount, giving you the elusive All-Purpose Rifle.

Decent price on the Cooey Model 60 also. For best accuracy, feed it a box of Remington Subsonics. Cooeys REALLY like them; the slower bullet does not skip in the rifling and blow your group all over the barn.

Good luck.

If I'm not mistaken, the CFC will allow you to register previously unregistered restricteds.

From what you've told us, at those prices, you can't really go wrong IMO.

You really need to post more info. Pictures would be better if you can.
$150 for an M1 Carbine is fabulous, but a great deal depends on the make. An issue Carbine is worth well over twice that even though it's restricted and you cannot shoot it. A civilian copy, depending on which one, can be too. Some of those are junk.
Just be aware that the restricted status applies to all of 'em. Regardless of there being no bolt. Highly unlikely to use anything but the round body bolt.
Which Lee-Enfield? A No. 4 has the rear sight on the receiver. A No. 1's rear sight is on the barrel. Is the headspace ok? It still in military configuration or has it been sporterized?
A Cooey M60, in any condition, isn't worth much. No collector interest at all. Mind you, I'd bet you could re-sell it for more than $50.
