So I got a new Sadlak (4mm) mag release. I followed the instructions to install it, including measuring a piece of wood and drilling the correct hole in it in the correct spot. I then got my small hammer and proceeded to try and remove the factory pin that holds the mag release on.

I used the provided die and proceeded to give it a small tap. No luck, so I proceeded to give bigger and bigger taps, leading up to a half strength hit with the hammer. I did not give it a full hit, as it wasn't even budging and I figured I needed some better advice. I guessed the internet would provide me with answers, so I took my trigger back to my gun and tried to re-install it. It no longer goes in. It seats to within about a quarter of an inch high at the front and the trigger guard refuses to close. It's slides in fine, and everything seems to line up, it just won't go past the 1/4" high at the front.

I took it out and looked at it. The factory pin has not budged. The trigger guard will move freely when not in the gun, so I'm not rubbing anywhere. I think I may have bent something, but can't see anything that looks bent. I took a pen to the sides of it and it seems straight to me. Even when I try and install it nothing seems to rub anywhere.

Basically I don't know what the $&%* I've done. Has anyone had any experiences like this?

A picture...it's worth a thousand words.

Check the condition of the 'ears' it is unlikely you bent them but if you did it would prevent seating. Check the condition of the guide rails that the assembly slides into the receiver.

I figured out my problem. All my "tapping" knocked loose the pin that holds the trigger guard on. That solved my problem with the trigger not going in, but I still don't know how to get the mag release pin out.

put a few drops of oil around the pin let it sit for a few minutes then try again it doesn't take alot of force to remove the pins . i have changed 4 of them and the whole operation takes 10 minutes when u follow the instructions . which in the case of the sadlack parts are very good.

yikes ! a little oil usually does wonders .Are you trying to use the taper pin that comes with the latch as a punch? if so i would get a set of brass punches from princess auto or some somewhere you can get a much better strike with a proper punch . a set of punches is less than $20

a little heat followed by some penetrating oil should help. If you can find Ballistol it works well as a penetrating oil and for general gun care . Reliable gun usually has it

I've got an extra Norinco trigger group I can send you if you buggered up your old one. I don't even want to know what kind of hassle it would be to order a new one.

Let me know if you need to replace the old one. :)

Well after a liberal soaking in oil, and then a careful drying off, followed by a good hard smacking with a hammer the results are.....

NOTHING!!!! still won't budge. And now I've managed to completely knock out the trigger guard pin, which made the hammer move. Nothing too serious, I guess it goes back together easy enough, just another pain in my ass.

I'm thinking I'll just leave it be. I think my #### will fall off if it comes out.

Seriously though, I'm beginning to think there is something wrong with the pin. The rest of the group is just fine, just the stuck pin.
