Lee Enfield No.1 Mk3, 1915 make, made by Birmingham Small Arms (BSA). Sporterized by cutting the stock.

Looks to be in decent shape, look on the bolt handle, their should be a serial number. This should match the serial number on the receiver.

Looks like a full barrel as well (Not Chopped). So, if bolt matches the receiver I would put the price between about $80-$120? Would make an excellent rifle for restoration.

Thank you, I think that about covers it!!

He's right: rear sight is German. The original sight for this rifle looked very similar, attached much the same way, but the Lee-Enfield barrel is a lot slimmer. Lots of original rear sights around for this model of rifle, do not sell for a lot.

This rifle has the cut in the Body for the magazine cutoff. It would restore into a really nice early-wartime Lee-Enfield Rifle Mark III, which is the way it started out.

An option is to do the restoration slowly, as parts become available, but keep (and maybe refinish) the woodwork that you already have. Grandpa's rifle still will anchor anything in North America with a single shot. At that rate, it will cost about $30 to fill the deepfreeze for the next 20 years. When it isn't out hunting, it an hang on the wall as a reminder of a far more unpleasant period.

Great find.
