help identifly this sako deluxe stock

i have a sako deluxe wood stock but i dont know what action its for. i was told its for a Sako AV, but my sako AIII does not fit. i thought there were a drop in. my bottom trigger guard fits so i know its a long action. the stock does have the long rear tang. my trigger set screw on both the sako AIII i have hit on the wood and they just dont fit.

The checkering looks like the L61R Deluxe style. I believe the AV has a longer tang than the AIII and it would be obvious when you try to fit the AIII stock into it.

Funny .. I have a mystery Sako stock as well (designed for a long action clearly and has a palm swell) but I cant seem to fit either 270 or a 338 Finnsport. Been such a long time that I cant remember what the issues were. Have to look at it again.
 
Yes, MikeBoehm is correct .. the inletting of the stock for the L61R and A-III is identical.
The early A-V 's were the same, but then .. for reasons known only to themselves .. Sako lengthened the tang with the later A-V's.

Your stock looks like a fine example of the later A-V (the cheek-piece was less rounded in the earlier ones).
Although it may not be visually elegant, the A-V stock can be modified to fit the A-III action by simply filling in some of the inletting.
