Yesterday I, visited a friend on his farm in SW Ontario and found this burrow in a snow bank by the road. The foot prints were there but because of the weather they were impossible to ID.

This burrow is in the side of a snow bank, it is +- 16 inches in diameter, goes straight down bout a foot and does 90 degree horizontally.

We have no clue what animal may be responsible for it. We thought maybe a skunk or a raccoon but we have never seen them have burrows such as this.

Here are two pictures:

Odd. My first thought would be a fox but doubt it.

Maybe porcupine or Opossum? They are freezing in the trees in the -20 and high winds so I've seen a lot on the ground making little burrows to get out of the wind.

Thanks, boys 😀

Lots of good suggestions.

He will try to set up his trail cam and perhaps get it that way.

Now that it snowed again, maybe the tracks will be better to id.

Cheers,
