Hi folks, can anyone help identify the markings on this enfield buttstock disk? The rifle is a 1916 No1 MK.III* that has been converted to No.2 Mk.IV

thanks in advance

What are the other markings on the rifle? Only British markings, or markings indicating ownership by other countries at some point in its history? C-broad arrow? N.Z.?

According to my listing, it is also the Green Howards. Odd that there is a duplication of letters. That's the first example I have seen.
The Gordon Hilghlanders mark is "Gor"

Thanks gents - very helpful info. As for other markings. Many of them are too faint to read. There is however a British Broad Arrow and the letters PH (Parker Hale?) stamped on the top of receiver.

This info may (or may not) help... :)

Sorry to say, but to my eye that disk has probably not been in that butt very long. The stock has been heavily sanded which is why the disk is actually sitting proud of the surrounding wood. Those large gaps around the disk should not be empty; that is where dirt and oil collects over time, filling any such gaps. The disk is the real thing I think, but they are probably not original to each other, IMHO.
