Belongs to a friend, has had it for decades, relegated to the back of his safe, not for sale just wants to know what he has.

I was unable to help, my knowledge of levers is minimal...maybe somebody knows what he has, I'd appreciate your insight.

Best of my limited knowledge, it's not a Winchester. If I had to bet on it, I'd say it's some French copy of a Winchester. Top eject, most of the pertinent rolls marks are faded and worn, all I can distinguish are patents and a partial mark "...RORDOT" (?). Barrel diameter looks to be 30 calibre, seemed very light. Sorry, this is the only pic I took of it.

What it looks like and what it is are not the same there should b something on the bbl . Very 1970’s erma knock off looking
Also if it old there should something on the tang .

The Erma/Ithaca lever action rifles have a different receiver profile. Lots of photos on the 'net. They also have a steel receiver cover over a diecast frame.
The Erma receiver profile is similar to that of a 9422 - flat along the bottom.
This rifle has a protrusion where the lever pivots.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, don't want to leave this question hanging... Just called my friend and asked him for some more pics, actually his kid because he's a Luddite. Here's a pic of all the top faded rollmarks, did not think anyone would find it helpful but you never know.

Thanks for your help guys. No way i would have thought it qas a Colt Burgess. Googled and found someone that listed all the patent dates on his Colt and they match the one my friend has. The partial roll mark I mentioned before is probably "HARTFORD".

So I'll tell him he has a beat-up reblued Colt, appreciate all your help.
