Hello, about 10 years ago, I found what appears to me to be a deactivated grenade while walking through the woods in cottage country in ontario. It was pretty beaten up, the top and bottom seem like they were broken open in order to deactivate, and it is fairly oxidized/ rusty.

I kept it, and I have had it kicking around for quite some time now. I have never know if it was really a grenade, or if it was some weird fencepost ornament... that happened to weigh about 1.5 lbs and look alot like a grenade.

Can anybody inform me if this was at one point a real grenade? If so, do you know anything about the history of it?

Its actualy a training grenade missing most of the the fuze part. The bottom opening was filled with a cork. It used a small bag of black powder to get the bang, which blew out the cork and nothing more than that.
It would have been painted a light blue colour
