I'm posting this here as I am seeking help for an item from long ago.

I bought this Meopta 4x for a ww2 mauser sniper clone.

The scope is in excellent shape except it has these rings with dovetailed bottoms and screws that screw in from the bottom.
I'm guessing the rings attach to a rail.
Anyone have any idea what these are?
Also, anyone know how to remove them? Do I unscrew the bells?

Thanks in advance!

Jon

most likely would have been on a side mount rail.
1,your best option for dealing with the rings is ,sell it . Get one with out rings installed.
2, get it over to Wheaty in Sudbury and have him disassemble it and remove the rings.

It is off a BRNO factory 19 mm dovetail mount (they were used on the Model 21 series from like 1947 or so onwards to the same dovetail today in the CZ 550) that someone took the dovetail fitting base off to use a "better" scope on the old base.

Too bad - to me it is like bubba got to it first.
I have a couple of these without the base as well. Fine scopes.
The rings MAY be sweated on ... I have never took mine apart.

Soldered rings were standard at that time period in Germanic countries.never had to worry about screws coming loose.
Eyepiece, focus knob and elevation control had to come off to get rings on and soldered.
Windage was adjusted from the bases.

Thanks guys!

Farshot is correct, its off of a Model 21. (I asked the guy I bought it off of.... You'd think I would have done that first...f:P:)

I'm sending It to a fella who can remove them and I'll be using it for a 98 Sniper clone.
