You have a russian SKS late 1955 or a 1956.It was refurbished, the little box with hash mark stamped on the rear cover is a refurb stamp. The stock is the hardwood birch type. There's a serial number on left side of the stock, may have been renumberedif there's an old number with ###xx on. Look like a clean refurb.Hi, I just got this and I would like to know a little more about it like where it was made, what year and if it was refurbished. I've done a bit of reading on here but there are just to many variables and variations for me to know what I have. From the pics can anyone tell me what I have? I already know its an SKS but thats about all I do know. If more/better pics will help let me know. Thanks.
Your stock have been renumbered to match and a pic of the receiver left side but more the rear part would be better. There,s a tiny star stamped on the receiver left side?Heres a shot of the lh side,
With a refurb,anything is possible. Pretty sure its aTula,1955 or earlier but since its a refurb, the rear cover could have been replaced. Your have also the diamond refurb mark on the cover along with the box mark, its not very common.No other markings towards the rear of the receiver and I don't see a star anywhere. Any other way to tell where it was made?
