Hey a buddy of mine just sent me a picture of some guns his father has he was wanting to know what he's got, I think the top looks like maybe a cooey mod75 but I'm not sure any help would be greatly appreciated.

The top one should say cooey or the trade brand name on the barrel or breech and model number. I would think the bottom gun should also have the maker's name stamped into it. Would take the guessing out of it.

.
Top one is a Cooey Model 39 as mentioned.

Tell your buddy to look for a maker's name on the barrel of the other one, usually located near the rear sight area.

Almost looks like a Marlin or H & R though, or possibly a "brand name" Hardware store contract rifle.

I got an update from him just now apparently his great grandfather was in some sort of militia and it was his gun, no markings on it. Also I guess the firing pin is missing from it :(.

Are you talking the bottom gun? Strange it would still have no markings.
The top gun could possibly be a Cooey model 55, hard to distinguish it from the 39 from the pic.

Ya the top I'm almost certain is a cooey mod 39, the bottom one tho not a single marking on it, find that really weird, my guess is it might be under the barrel but I don't know if he's capable of checking that.

I could be wrong, but I don't remember seeing 39's with that type of Barrel/action screws. The ones I've had (late 50's - mid 60's models) had a plain screw.
