Can anyone help me adentify and value this shotgun? It is beautifully made (excellent metal finish/color case, fitting) but it has a couple issues. The finish on the buttstock is flaking, and the buttplate is not original. There was also what I believe to have been a sling swivel on the barrels that sombody removed. The markings are as follows:

-Each barrel has a D with a crown on top
-There is the word choke followed by 18.3
-One barrel says "Siemens Martin Steel"
-Other barrel says " Magi"

Here are some pics

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Simon

Long freakin' shot here, but the trigger guard and pin arrangements, along with the mention of the "D" make me think Dumoulin:

The 18.3 is metric for the bore diameter: .720". You mention that it is preceded by the word "choke". I wonder if there are stars or asterisks preceding that. The european method of identifying choke:

* = Full
** = Modified
*** = Cylinder

Hang on...

"D crowned should be the mark of the manufacturer of barrels DELCOUR-DUPONT Jean, trade mark the 06.06.1921."

I will get some pictures of the marks, they are quite plentiful on the flats of the barrels and reciever. It does say, however, "Pirotte et Fils...Liege Belgium". and "triumph" on the bottom of the reciever ahead of the trigger guard.

-There is "1KG454"
- "PV" with a wiggly line on top"
-There is a circle with a crown on top
- there is a E with LG below it, and a star below that
- There is a lion, with a line below it, then blow that "P.V". then a star below that, and a G below that
- There is what appears to be a solid line with a backwards L and then a forwards L below it, like table legs.
- There is "ma"

I am doing this over the phone so please forgive some of the vagueness, I will get pictures of these markings ASAP.

Thanks for your help.

Simon

I recommend that you head over to the doublegunshop.com forums and post some pics along with the info above. There are a couple of nutcases over there that will likely be able to look at the serial number and tell what colour socks the maker was wearing.

They're good guys, I'm just kidding.

I wanted to give him some hints so he could hunt for it on his own and not hot link the gun for him  ... kinda like a Indian Jones kinda thing... or maybe I need less sugar late at night :D
